Celebrate Halloween With the Magic of CapMetro: Six Halloween Costume Ideas

Six Halloween Costume Ideas based on CapMetro Services

Transform into one of your favorite characters (or ours!) and get ready for a night of tasty treats, creepy critters and scary-safe rides. Whether you want to catch a ride to the “full-size candy bar” neighborhood or hop around to visit Austin’s most haunted sites, we’ve got you covered with our affordable and extended service. Soar through the streets on Bikeshare or get there frighteningly fast with Rail or Bus. No matter which way you choose CapMetro will do the trick!

You don’t have to put a spell on us! UT students, staff and faculty and all tiny terrors (aka kids 18 and under) ride free!

On Thursday, October 31, we are extending CapMetro Rail service until 2:30 a.m. and CapMetro Rapid will run until midnight. If you’re planning a late night or had one too many witches’ brews, our Night Owl buses will run until 3 a.m., leaving from 6th & Congress.

We’re celebrating the classic characters you know and love this holiday weekend, and you can too! Finding the right costume is the first step to a fun and successful Halloween. Let us help you with some last-minute inspiration and dress up like one of our CapMetro Transit characters in some of our favorite 2024 costume ideas!

Very Hungry Caterpillar Rail

This classic character is sure to get attention from both kids and adults. To get the look, wear all green, and sport a red hat and yellow glasses – bonus points if you make a pair of antennas. Grab some friends and dress them up as your favorite foods (don’t forget to include the signature hole in the center), and you’ve got a group costume that will keep growing and growing!

Snoopy Access

It’s 2024 and Snoopy is everywhere! This nostalgic character has had a major resurgence this year, he even has his own official TikTok account with almost 2 million followers. Snoopy’s imagination can take him all over the world – even to space! Where will you go this Halloween? Sport one of the Peanuts’ pup’s most iconic looks and wear a puffer jacket and dog ears. Or take inspiration from our Access vehicle and wear an all-red fit with a Snoopy plush on your shoulders.

Garfield Pickup

Ugh we hate Mondays! Good thing this year, Halloween lands on a Thursday!  2024 brought us a new Garfield movie that was full of laughs and, of course, lasagna! We just had to dress up our Pickup vehicle as our favorite cunning cat, and you can copy the look easily with just a bit of face paint! Or rock an orange outfit and cover yourself in those signature stripes. No need to stay out too late, fill up on Halloween treats and schedule your ride home to take a big ‘ol cat nap.

Mummy Bikeshare

What did the mummy say about living after rising from the dead? It’s just like riding a bike! Sometimes you have got to stick with the classics, and this year our revamped service, CapMetro Bikeshare, is doing just that. Wrap yourself in gauze (or toilet paper if you’re fancy!) and be the nightmare of the neighborhood this Halloween.

Olympic Bus

It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s…Stephan Nedoroscik, Olympic Pommel Horse competitor! Known for his iconic “Clark Kent” style glasses, Stephan put the Pommel Horse on the map this year at the 2024 Summer Olympics, earning Team USA the bronze medal in Men’s gymnastics. We had no choice but to dress up the workhorse of public transit, the CapMetro Bus, as this signature event. To get the look, dress up in the famous red, white and blue or show off your parkour skills around the city and do a few planks – just add some handles!

Cheerleader Bus

This year we saw the Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders in a new light with the popular Netflix reality series, “America’s Sweethearts,” showcasing the hard work it takes to land a spot on the field of the infamous AT&T Stadium. This popular costume is easy to replicate, just grab some white shorts, a blue long-sleeve top and a white vest. Tall white cowboy boots and a pair of pom poms don’t hurt either!
