Meet CapMetro – Jake Boone, Station & Facilities Planning Technician

Meet Jake Boone, a Station and Facilities Planning Technician for the CapMetro Bikeshare program. He studied physical education in college before working for bicycle education non-profits, eventually keying in on how proper transit infrastructure can positively impact public health. And that’s where his passion for public transit became a career. “Sidewalks, bike lanes, even transit—help encourage people to live a more active lifestyle,” he says.

At CapMetro, Jake plays a key role in finding new Bikeshare locations. Some days he’s at a desk handling permits and coordinating with various stakeholders, other days you can find him in the field on his bike exploring new potential sites so he can get a feel for what it’s like to ride in the area.

When he’s off the clock, you can find him trail running, mountain biking, or restoring old furniture that he and his wife find on the street. As a new dad, he also appreciates Austin’s growing bike and pedestrian network, making it easier to get around with a stroller. And his hot take? S’mores are overrated. Too much risk, not enough reward and way too sticky when you’re camping without a sink nearby.
